Heartland Engineering was established by T. (Sid) Tjeerdsma P. Eng in November 1990. After having been employed by two major Consulting firms for 18 years he decided to take his experience and his desire to offer a very personal service to clients and opened the first office in Orangeville, Ontario. In 1991 a second office was opened in Midland, Ontario offering the same professionalism and expertise to clients in the Huronia area. In 1993 it was decided to combine the Orangeville and Midland offices and a building was purchased between Barrie and Collingwood, in the quiet Town of Stayner. Since that time the staff has grown to between 8 and 10, and the client base has broadened to include projects from Mississauga to Bracebridge and Whitby to Palmerston.
